SPACE IN A WEB(SITE) OF VERSE

Chandigarh: Poetry in the times of hectic pace. It's almost as if Robert Frost or William Wordsworth are strange names. And the few whose pens do spew out poetry, usually fall short of sharing or the right platform. But may but may not be for long... thanks to two city-based marketing professionals working in pharmaceutical companies, Nitin Bhalla and Sharad Choudhary who've taken an initiative of a website saypoetry.com. Tuesday saw the spirited duo launch the website they have conceived, designed and developed.

This community driven website should go a long way in feeding interests of people looking for meaningful poetry, tells Nitin, who works with AstraZeneca: "Sharad and I wanted to work on something like this for quite sometime; we too are inclined toward penning poetry but we knew there was no platform available for creative writers. So here we are, offering just that, to budding poets." His friend Sharad feels that in this age of pub culture, "there is a need to shove youngsters closer to some creative form of writing and reading which would bring peace and tranquility in their lives."

Back to the website, besides comprising poetry of known poets, it also allows you to put it on the website for free. Adds Nitin, "Also there'd be contests like theme poetry contest on a monthly basis and then Haiku poetry and season poetry contests." The readers can also place their comments on the poetry posted on the website." We have a criticism and vote panel columns for the readers. Then, the budding poets can create their own homepage and website address on the which they can put their stuff. That may help them get a publisher.
